There is something everyone can do
it matters not how big or small
We all have community groups that we support, even if you're buying Girl Scout Cookies, you're helping a community group. Here at MosquitoStick.com we support our communities, friends, neighbors and families in a variety of ways.
Right now we are a new and small company without the ability to write much needed checks. We donate our time and talents. And of course, we sincerely hope that as we grow it will allow us to donate funds to organizations that are doing work we can all support. We know that financial contributions to non-profit organizations provides for greater growth and freedom and we can't wait to get there.
A current focus for summer 2021 is Impact Camp. This free weeklong camp is for boys (over 200 of them) who otherwise would not get to experience a summer camp program. The camp takes place at Johnson C. Smith University an HBCU with an amazing history. By holding the camp at Johnson C. Smith, we are giving these young men and boys a college campus experience where they get to interact daily with college students and coaches from JCSU.
While the camp features sports activities, our emphasis is on providing guidance and mentoring. Each day the kids are introduced to men in the community who are similar to them. These men grew up in underserved communities, came from financially challenged families. These men overcame adversity achieving success and are an inspiration, helping to communicate the value of learning and all of the options that are open to these kids. This exposure helps the kids to see that there is a path to economic stability and upward mobility.
